Netflix announces the addition of the classic Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise to its worldwide streaming line-up, both the show and movies. With shows like House of Cards and Stranger Things, Netflix cemented its status as a producer of top-level original live-action TV series. Hits like Bojack Horseman enabled Netflix to make its mark in the realm of original western-style animated series too, while movies like Bright and Gerald's Game got the streaming giant attention for its original feature films. More recently, Netflix has been attempting to make inroads with the anime community.
Netflix currently streams or has streamed big name anime programs like Attack on Titan, Death Note, and Fullmetal Alchemist. They've also started producing their own original anime shows, such as Devilman Crybaby, Castlevania, and Ingress. Anime series based on properties like Pacific Rim and Devil May Cry are also in the works, as is an anime film adaptation of Netflix original show Altered Carbon.
Now, Netflix has confirmed that in spring 2019, they'll add every episode of the classic show Neon Genesis Evangelion, and both movies spawned by the show. This was revealed at Tokyo's Anime Lineup Presentation event earlier tonight.
