The Essence All About eyeshadow palettes came out a year ago, and I was very excited to buy them. I managed to purchase 3 of them, so I'm here with a lot of pictures, swatches and reviews.

There were 4 of these palettes originally. I didn't buy the 4th one, it was Paradise themed and had very bright colours in it. The Candies and the Paradise palette is going to be discontinued soon, and Essence will release 2 new All About palettes to replace the old ones. They are called Deep Sea and Romace, and you can check them out in this post. There is a Chocolate inspired All About palette as well, it was released in September, but I don't own that either.

You get 8.5 g of product in each palette.

The packaging is sleek and sturdy, made out of hard plastic. My only complaint is the fact that the label wears of after 1 day, and it upsets me greatly. One ride in your makeu bag, and no writing will be seen on the lid of the palette. Not cool, I don't like when the writing wears off so quickly. Nothing saddens me more.

The texture of the eyeshadows is unique: it is soft like butter, but it's squishy at the same time, like a sponge. It kinda reminds me of Lancome eyeshadows. The pigmentation is very good, these are Essence's best eyeshadows so far, considering both softness, texture and colour payoff. The eyeshadow texture of the How To Make palettes (review here) is nothing compared to these. Even better that these little ones are half the price of the How To Make palettes.

There are no mattes in any of the palettes, however, there are different finishes: satin, shimmer and glitter.

My only concern is the similarity of the shades: there are quite a lot of look-alike colours in each palette that blend together on the eyes, and look like one colour. If you put the pink shades next to each other on your lid, they will look like one pink shade. It's not the end of the world though, you still get 4 different shades in this palette: a light beige, a pink (all 3 pinks look very similar on the eyes), a brown and a burgundy.

Catrice Absolute Nude palette vs. Essence All About Nude palette
To compare the Essence and the Catrice palettes, I put them next to each other. You can see that the Essence palette is tiny and cute, very handy when traveling. The texture of the Essence shadows is a lot softer than the texture of the Catrice eyeshadow palettes. The shades of the two palettes are different enough to pick them up both if you like nude palettes.
Essence All About Candies palette
The Candies palette is a beautiful pastel palette for Spring, suitable for unicorns, fairies, pastel-goths and makeup lovers. It's just simply gorgeous. If you've been following me for a while, you know that I love wearing pastel shades in the Spring months.

Once again, the pink, peach and lilac shades look different on my hand, but once I apply them to my lid, they all look very similar. The green and the blue shades also are similar on the lids. I tend to use colour bases under the shades, which really helps.

The shades of the Sunrise palette are quite different from each other, so all 6 shades show up as different colours on the lid. This one is a perfect palette for Autumn.

The fact that the similar shades of the first 2 palettes show up on the lid as one colour might be a problem for some, but the texture of the eyeshadows is so incredibly soft that I really don't mind.
I'm planning to buy the two new releases as well once they hit the stores. I wish that all of Essence's eyeshadows had this lovely texture.
